The first half lead to an explosive start, as veteran catcher Xustark led the team to an early 3 turn TD! The bunnies had less luck with their hired on Rotspawn, who spent a good chunk of time making mud castles in centerfield. The Bunnies after the first TD could not pick up the ball, slipping and sliding like the young children would soon do on the hills of Chattanooga. This led to another 3 turns before a further TD was scored by the Dabbers. With winter fast approaching, the Bunnies ran it up the sideline and surprisingly, the Slaan backed off the play. The bunnies scored a TD, but not soon after winter swept up the pitch. The bunnies took to hiding in their rabbit burrows, and the Slaan leapt to the lilies before the frost took their toes. The Kringlemeisters started it off with a quick score and then the Blight Bunnies settled in for a long slog towards the goal line as they showed off their dance moves for the happy elves! Unfortunately for the Bunnies, while Grandpa Nuffle gave them stinky feet he also gave them the grace and agility of a dead possum. With various shenanigans, the Elves were eventually able to take the ball away (twice!) and score again (twice!), much to the Bunnies dismay. The Elves cheered it all regardless, and tried to convince the bunnies that Nuffle doesn't care who scores the ball, as long as they score! And let me tell you the celebrations were FIERCE! Both teams went back and forth, never taking more than a few turns to score a touchdown. Both teams celebrated in the end zone four times each with the festivities getting rowdier and rowdier. Wink Frostylaugh celebrated a little too exuberantly with his Elven counterparts and pulled his back out causing him to miss next game and leaving a niggling injury. On top of that he sprinkled a little bit of mischief on the ball everytime the Orcs touched it which resulted in them giving it back to the Elves! The Elves scored two points thanks to the holiday mischief and continued to pester the Orcs and delay their own attempts to score. They were able to score one, and despite knocking Winterspur Knothead out of the game, were unable to equalize. The Kringles celebrated the win by... well, celebrating! The pitch for most of the game was caked in a sweltering heat with no shade or water in sight. Over two halves both teams ran the ball up and down the pitch, with several players on both sides needing to take breaks. The first half the Dappled Dabbers attempted to rush the ball up the side, but not before swiftly meeting the fist of Steve Klubthumpa, reversing the advance. In the second half most of the Stalwart's energy was used up, with several players complaining of dehydration! But you know what they say, "There's no crying in Bloodbowl". The remaining players did hold off the Leaping frogs for several minutes before they managed to slip in the final two points. The game was back and forth, with many thralls being knocked down in the thirst of will to get to the finals. The vamps managed to score on turn 8, even after the frogs jumped all over the map, bringing the long match into overtime. In overtime, the frogs quickly abandoned the line, running the ball up the line but not before the Vamps tackled the ball into the crowd! Morg and the two mummies set up against the Krunkers in what would be an epic showdown... and then the game started. Latravius L. Latrineus, the frenzied Rat Ogre ripped into Morg and with an earth rending shriek punched through his armor, driving him to the pitch and ripping his heart out on the first action of the game. Not to be outdone, Donkey Teeth smashed one of the mummies to the floor so hard he had to be sent to the dugout to recover. Then Ay Ay Ron knocked the second mummy off his feet as well. Turn one was brutal to the shocked Children, but they attempted to rally. In the second turn, their second mummy got sent to the dugout by the fearsome front line and the Children were reeling in shock. The Kickers were able to pull out a fast score and a second score before the half ended. The second half had most of the Children back on the pitch, and they gave a good accounting for themselves. The pace was much more even as the redoubtable undead stood toe to toe with the forces of Chaos and slugged back hard.
